Paris Haute Couture Week

Fashion influencers, the cremé de la cremé of fashion’s most famous editors, directors and clients alike all flock to Paris. Home to Haute Couture. To witness the glory, the drama and the elegance of couture Spring Summer 2020 collections. Combined with Men’s Fall/Winter 2020/2021 shows from the grand Parisian houses it is one of the hottest fashion months of the season yet.

Schiaparelli Spring Summer 2020

Dainty, hand-crafted beautiful pops of colour. Cerulean blue hues, jewel-toned gowns swept the runway. Stylist, bold Gold jewellery and carefully-placed embroidery gently embellished the long flowing gowns as they made their way down the runway.

DIOR

Feminity, Power & Positivity! Maria Grazia Chiuri who is the creative director of the house did a fantastic job. Focused on showcasing the art of texture, metallic colours and layering featured heavily at DIOR. The show was reminiscent of being transported back to Ancient Greece with beauty being soft and supple. Glowing skin and intricate veils entwined with headbands created an elegant feel to the collection. JUDY CHICAGO® who is a feminist artist designed the set for DIOR.

 Jacquemus – “L’ANNÉE 97” – Men’s Fall/Winter 2020

Young and handsome Simon Porte of Jacquemus seems to have done it yet, again. He has a natural flair for staying true to his roots but consistently seems to captivate the audience to want that French quaint countryside look. A simple but never the least, powerful collection. Holiday blues begone! In addition, his infamous cult classic mini bags were showcased. Available both for men and women which, were extremely well-constructed. Not to mention all of the models were bronzed and beautiful even though it was only a Fall/Winter show. Got to love Jacquemus!

Jean Paul Gaultier – Spring Summer 2020

As his last ever fashion show, the larger than life designer Jean Paul Gaultier presented a stellar show, casting supermodels and house ambassadors alike to celebrate his 50 years in fashion. Sadly, this is for his last ever couture show. Statement chiffon in classic Brenton stripes featured on Supermodel Gigi as she graced the runway. Beautiful cuts and ornate details captured his true essence of the Maison. Dita Von Tease made her sultry debut on the runway too wearing a corset belted dress in leather. Standing applause to Monsieur Jean Paul!

Ralph & Russo – Spring Summer 2020

Beautifully designed gowns which are fit for royals, princesses alike. Ralph &  Russo presented a gorgeously curated collection that portrayed the very best of Haute Couture. Detailed embroidery, glimmering gowns that resembled works of art in soft hues of purple, fuschia and pastel blue. A true work of craftsmanship.

Zuhair Murad Couture Spring Summer 2020

We cannot simply write an article about Couture and not mention Zuhair Murad. The Lebanese designer paid homage to the royal queens and princesses who ruled during the Ancient Egyptian civilization. Intricate breastplates with hand-laid bejewelled crystals and long golden gowns with capes that tribute the holy deities of the civilization. Heavy features of gold, silver, vermillion red and black and mesmerizing turquoise took inspiration from the beauty regimes of the great Egyptians. A stellar worthy collection!
