Tamasha gets a dose of folk music and dance in Shimla!

Director Imtiaz Ali has displayed his liking for folk music in his past films. Shooting for Tamasha wasn’t any different and it would be incomplete if he hadn’t added the folk touch to such a film.

The crew got a real taste of local flavors of Himachal Pradesh while working on the film. When the team was coming to an end of shooting for the film in Shimla, the crew had the chance to listen to rare and beautiful folksy tunes from Himachal Pradesh.

They stayed at the historical Sidhowal Lodge in the hill town, and one evening the local artists from Shimla turned up impromptu and snag Himachal folk songs. This was such a delight for the crew and for Imtiaz of course! They folk musicians even flaunted off some improve dance moves and helped the crew learn a few traditional Himachali steps.

Imtiaz often incorporates folk culture and music in his films and there’s no doubt he took this chance to do it once more. In fact he has highlighted common Indian theatrical settings and public performance styles on a grander, innovative scale. We surely cannot wait to see the ‘tamasha’ he has created for us to see releasing in India this Friday November 27 and in North America on Wednesday November 25!

Tamaasha is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and UTV Motion Pictures. The films outstanding music is by A.R. Rahman and poetic lyrics are by Irshad Kamil. This emotional drama film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
