Bodyguard creates box-office magic

Nothing seems impossible when it comes to Salman Khan these days. The actor appears to be at the top of his game with three consecutive hits with Dabaangg, Wanted and Ready – and now Bodyguard seems to have rocketed to new heights altogether!

The film scored a gigantic opening in North America, collecting an astounding $1.4m over its six-day debut period.

In less than one week, the Reliance Big Pictures release has already surpassed the entire lifetime gross of Dabangg and beaten the combined lifetime totals for Ready and Wanted.

Playing in 88 theatres across the United States and Canada, Bodyguard’s weekend numbers included $863,531 over the Friday-to-Sunday period and $1,051,132 across the Friday-to-Monday Labor Day holiday period.

Since opening on Wednesday, 31st August the film has collected $1,361,790 and is expected to break the $2m barrier in its second week.

The films per-theatre average of $11,945 was by far the highest for any film in the North American Top 20 over the weekend.
