Pathaan, the latest release from Yash Raj Films, has made box office history with unprecedented numbers. While the film continues to set and break records, Pathaan’s much-loved party anthem Besharam Rang has made a name for itself and become a massive chartbuster. The song features India’s biggest stars, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who have lit up the screen with their sizzling chemistry.
Shilpa Rao, who has had some chart-topping hits, sings the song.
“When you talk about Deepika, I smile because that’s what she does to me,” Shilpa says of her latest collaboration with Deepika. “I think she is one of the most beautiful human beings I’ve worked with in my life. Whenever I’ve met her there has been so much warmth. I mean the way she is, the eye contact she makes, you know it’s like as if she’s not talking to anybody else there, as if nobody else is in the room and that is what I love about her. We started off with Khuda Jaane which was a song where both of them (lead actors) were falling in love and we’ve also done Lafangey Parindey which is a very different song. In Besharam Rang she is celebrating herself and I love that. We do half-half jobs – I do it in the studio expressing the song at an audio level and she expresses it on a video level,” she further states.
Shilpa has frequently collaborated with Vishal-Sheykhar and Siddharth Anand, the most recent being the iconic chartbuster Ghungroo.
“Siddharth, Vishal-Sheykhar and I – its been four of us in a room since 2007 when we started with Khuda Jaane from Bachna Ae Haseeno and it was again produced by Yash Raj Films and it’s always been like that and I don’t know we just have a lot of fun in the room. We don’t even discuss the song. The only question I asked Siddharth what is the character wanting to say here and that’s the only one question I asked him and as a ritual Siddharth always teaches me the song before Vishal-Sheykhar. I think that ritual is our lucky charm and we start with that and we have lots of coffee, lots of food and lots of bad jokes. Yeah that’s the concoction for a hit for us.” Shilpa says.

Pathaan is part of Aditya Chopra’s ambitious spy universe, and it stars the country’s biggest stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham. Pathaan, YRF’s adrenaline-pumping film, was released on January 25, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
