Pathaan, the latest blockbuster from YRF, hit theaters on January 25. The film marks the comeback of our country’s biggest superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, and has received unprecedented box office success since its release.
Since the audience got a sneak peek of the teaser, the songs – Besharam Rang and Jhoome Jo Pathaan – followed by the slick and action packed trailer almost a month ago, the anticipation for the film has been sky high.
While the film continues to set and break records, the popularity of its songs has kept audiences glued to it. In fact, videos of people dancing to Jhoome Jo Pathaan in theaters have gone viral, demonstrating how much the audience enjoyed the film’s music.
Sharing her excitement about singing the female vocals for Jhoome Jo Pathaan, singer Sukriti Kakar shares, “So actually, the crazy thing about this song is that whatever you’re hearing right now is actually two years old. Now, I can say that because it’s 2023. But I remember it was one afternoon I got a call very randomly almost two years ago from Sheykhar and he had just reached out to ask me if I was in town and if I could come over to the studio to record something. And luckily I was in town because a lot of times what happens is you’re either traveling for a gig or a concert and you’re not in town and you happen to miss the recording all together. But luckily that day I was there and I was so excited because you know I’ve always wanted to work with Vishal and Sheykhar and this just kind of came through.”
“So I went over to the studio I met Vishal, Sheykhar and Kumar sir who’s written the song and Siddharth Anand and everybody was there and we just started to get into the song. I had no idea actually and there was no conversation at all with either of them about what movie it is for, who’s in the movie or what am I singing for because I think what’s most important at the time of the recording is the song and I knew I really wanted to deliver and do a good job and there really wasn’t any other conversation. But I knew what I was singing because it was the title track. So I think it was a given that it is for Pathaan,” she continued.
