British Hindi singer Shama hails from North London and burst on to the scene last year with her debut track ‘Maahi’. After a great response from the media, key DJ’s and Asian music fans, Shama, alongside producer MasterKeyz and band The 515 Crew, have been in the studio making more unique music, a sound which can only be described as an Urban Bollywood fusion. Shama’s latest release is the energetic, dance-floor friendly Hindi track “Diljaani.”
Described by the globally renowned Bollywood music maestros Shankar Ehsaan Loy as “a versatile singer with an ability to sing all styles of Indian music,” and by Bhangra legend Channi Singh as being “blessed with an enchanting voice,” Shama is both an immensely talented singer and songwriter and has written “Diljaani.”
Shama comes from a diverse musical background. She is an accomplished performer who has sung in several countries, performing with Bollywood singers such as Anup Jalota, Sukhwinder Singh, Mangal Singh and popular UK Bhangra artists such as Shin DCS and Silinder Pardesi. She also adds singing on Ex-Spice Girl Geri ‘Ginger Spice’ Halliwell’s debut album ‘Schizophonic’ amongst her credits!
Shama launched herself last year with The 515 Crew, a production outfit and live band made up of talented British Asian musicians. Together they are currently working on material for a UK wide live tour. Producer Hinal ‘MasterKeyz’ Pattani leads the 515 crew as creative director, ensuring that as a live act, the band fuse their diverse music influences from the Bhangra, Bollywood, Urban and World Music circuits to create a truly unique sound and performance.
Shama and The 515 Crew have a string of performances lined up nationally over the next few months, kicking off with the release of “Diljaani” on iTunes on 27th October 2011.
