100 Eye Surgeons in an IPL match to promote Eye Donation!

100 Eye Surgeons went for an IPL match (MI vs GT). The purpose of this initiative is to increase awareness of eye donation.

 

 

When contacted Dr. Himanshu Mehta President of Bombay Ophthalmic Association mentioned that –

“There are more than 8 million blind people in this country who would benefit if people donate their eyes.  Eye donation can be done within 4-6 hours after death. You can call up any eye Bank or call up a common number 1919 and they will assist you and collect. There are no charges or hidden cost. These eyes are not sold in the open market and there is no money involved. They are genuinely used for people who need cornea transplants anywhere across Mumbai or Maharashtra,” says Dr Himanshu.

In fact, Bombay Ophthalmic Association is one of the strongest associations in the country and is top-notch when it comes to medical services and the authenticity of practices.
