Abhishek Sharrma has already made a name for himself in the entertainment industry and his acting as the male lead Devansh in Vasudha has proved his mettle as an actor. Abhishek recalls his school days, the teachers who remain close to his heart, and the lessons that have stayed with him even after he grew up.
Talking about what Teacher’s Day meant to him as a student, Abhishek recalled the fun and mischief that came with the occasion. He said,
“We all used to become teachers and teach our favourite teachers’ classes. Then we used to go to different classes, maybe where we had a crush on someone, and trouble her and give her homework. So yeah, this was something which we used to do for fun.”
However, as an adult, Abhishek looks at his teachers with a deeper sense of gratitude. He shared that his school teachers were among the first people, apart from his family, who genuinely believed in him and encouraged him to do better. He especially remembers a teacher who helped him improve his spelling and language skills.
“The first people I used to think of were my school teachers because they were the first ones who genuinely believed in me and pushed me to do better, obviously apart from my family. I still remember there was a teacher who helped me a lot with spelling. He was the teacher who taught me Hindi and English vocabulary, spelling and knowledge about cursive writing. He was a very good teacher for me,” Abhishek said.
He added,
“There are always a few teachers you remember, not because of the subject they taught but because of the way they made you feel. So I think those teachers stay with you for life. Even today, I can’t forget him and many other teachers. You will forget what was written on the blackboard, but you don’t forget the teacher who made you believe you could do something.”
Abhishek also revealed that one important lesson from school continues to help him deal with the pressures and unpredictability of the entertainment industry. For him, learning from mistakes and trying again has been an important part of his journey.
“I think the biggest lesson I have learnt is that you cannot be good at everything on the first attempt. I have a knack for giving my best in every attempt. But you have to consider that it’s not necessary that you will do everything well on the first attempt, obviously. So in school, you make mistakes, you get corrected. You try again, and you eventually improve. So that lesson has stayed with me,” he said.
Drawing a parallel with showbiz, Abhishek added,
“The entertainment industry is also unpredictable. There will be days when you are praised, days when you are criticised. Auditions you don’t get. Sometimes, scenes won’t go the way you wanted them to. So you have to learn not to let one result define you. You take the feedback, learn from it, and show up the next day and try again. So, in many ways, the classroom prepared me for that resilience and never-giving-up attitude without me even realising it at that time.”
The actor’s reflections show how some of the most valuable lessons from school often stay relevant long after the classroom is left behind.
