“Being a Delhi guy there were not many opportunities to work in films or television. I have learnt acting, and taken formal dance training from Shiamak Davar. [Late] Sushant Singh Rajput and I were batch mates. We were, in fact, best of friends. We together attended the closing ceremony of Commonwealth Games in 2006, in Melbourne,” says the actor. The learning helped him get work, but not the kind of work he wanted to do.

“Then I got the opportunity to be a background dancer in the movie Aisha for the song Gal Mithi Mithi Bol and after that I got to work as a junior artist coordinator and that gave me work in 3 Idiots. I got to do a scene in the film. At that time I was paid Rs 200 a day. They used to say that it would be a 9 hours shift but then used to make us work for 12 hours,” he recalls.

Sharing his success story online that has given him all he dreamt of, especially fans who adore him, he adds,

“I never thought that I would reach such a level. I am very much thankful to my supporters and followers, my YouTube and Instagram family. The viewership of our reels is very good and whatever reel I post gets viral. People are shifting from cinema to OTT and are interested in short-form content and they want easy convenience. Going to watch a movie in theatres takes effort while watching a series or film on OTT is convenient. Reels, YouTube shorts are getting more engagement and the growth here is immense. Soon I guess the social media influencers will start charging like the film stars, as per their reach.”

The slice-of-life content in his reels is a hit. Not many know that Rahul is also an entrepreneur. And, it seems he is good at multitasking.

“I am also doing my business in Delhi and it gets tough sometimes to take out time for social media as there is script writing, editing, shooting and rehearsal and coordination. If someone has a passion to do it then everything is possible,” he ends.
