Movies Directed By Farhan Akhtar That We Love To Binge On Too

Farhan Akhtar entered Bollywood as an assistant director and launched himself as a director with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001 which was produced by Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., a production company he established along with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999. Since then it was no looking back for the director who made his debut in acting as well as singing from Rock On in 2008.

Today as Farhan Akhtar rings his 45th birthday, we at UrbanAsian would like to list down some films Farhan directed himself, which we absolutely love.

Dil Chahta Hai: (2001)

Starring Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni, and Dimple Kapadia, Dil Chahta Hai is a movie we all love. The movie is set in modern-day urban Mumbai and Sydney, and focuses on a major period of transition in the lives of three young friends. The film even won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.

Lakshya: (2004)

This Indian war drama starred Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. It is a story of Karan Shergill who develops from an aimless young man into an army officer. It is a fun-filled movie with lots of emotions.

Don: (2006)

This action-thriller film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, and Boman Irani was the reboot of the old Don (1978) starring Amitabh Bachchan but with a never to guess twist. Don was awarded Best Asian Film at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival. The film was also nominated for nine awards at the 52nd Filmfare Awards, including nominations for Best Film and Best Actor for Shah Rukh Khan.

Don 2: (2011)

After the immense success of Don, Farhan Akhtar and team were back with the sequel Don 2 starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, and Kunal Kapoor. Don 2 takes place five years after the previous film when Don plans to take over the European drug cartel. The film received five nominations at the 57th Filmfare Awards, including Best Film, Best Director for Farhan Akhtar and Best Actor for Shah Rukh Khan, winning Best Sound Design and Best Action.

It is a Hindi short film which was directed by Farhan Akhtar and starred Shabana Azmi and Boman Irani in lead roles. The movie premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2007.

Well, according to reports Farhan will be soon coming up with Don 3. Can’t wait to watch this amazing and talented director create something unique and entertain us with his amazing films.
