Top 6 Bollywood Garba numbers to build your hype for Navaratri season!

What better way to celebrate Navaratri – a colorful festival dedicated to powerful female Hindu goddesses – than with music and dance! As the nine-day ode to the mother goddesses approaches, preparations are underway for a grand garba and dandiya season. Needless to say, Bollywood has quite a few upbeat garba-inspired songs that will have you itching to dance along. See which ones made it to our top 6!

1. Shubharambh (Kai Po Che)

This haunting melody has all the feels and instrumental elements of a garba-inspired song packaged and presented in Amit Trivedi’s quintessential musical style.

2. Dholi Taro Dhol Baaje (Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam)

Back in the early 2000s, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and music composer Ismail Darbar gave us a smashing, high-energy garba track that had everyone dancing along with Salman and Aishwarya!

3. Radha Kaise Na Jale (Lagaan)

Although Radha Kaise Na Jale is not musically a typical garba number, the dancers use dandiyas in the beginning choreography of this song, which is enough for us to put it on this list! Besides, who could resist revisiting this song from the classic hit flick Lagaan!

4. Gunji Angna Mein Shehnai (Life Partner)

This is one of the less popular Bollywood garba numbers from recent times but it is a nice depiction of the celebratory folk dance form, which is also an essential element of Gujarati weddings.

5. Chand Aaya Hai (Dil Hi Dil Mein)

Chand Aaya Hai reflects the musical aesthetic of the 90s when A.R. Rahman was making his way into the hindi film industry with classic hits like Dil Hi Dil Mein.

6. Nagada Sang Dhol (Ram Leela)

Last but not the least, we have the very popular number from Sanjay Lela Bhansali’s romance flick Ram Leela, featuring authentic choreography excellently executed by Deepika Padukone.
