India’s Raw Star Rituraj Mohanty recently went to Boston for a special event representing the Oriya community. It was Rituraj’s first ever trip to US and the talented singer had a blast.
Commenting on the same he says,
“I was invited by our own community which is known as OSA as a special guest and performer. I have been abroad before but it was my first trip to USA. The journey was long and tiring and then there was the issue of time difference. I was only there for 4 days and after I came back I was down with a bad cold. However, the performance was very good and people enjoyed my songs. Overall it was a rewarding experience.”
So how did you interact with your audience?
“I believe in interacting with the audience but I don’t dance much. My motto on the stage is always make audience dance.” Rituraj also follows a ritual before he goes up on stage, a few minutes meditation and a warm up exercise. As he adds,”Before I go to the stage I just close my eyes and remember my parents face and then I run and stretch a bit just to warm up my self because on stage you can’t move much but your whole body moves while performing. When you are performing sufi songs you need that high energy on stage.”
It seems like he had a lot of fun!
