Working around his favoured military detailing that featured unique customised buttons; some really trendy silhouettes, the designer gave a contemporary edge to convention, and brought surface textures to the forefront. Racer stripes were eye-catching, while columns of pin tucks and pleats stood out as the focal attraction for summer wear.

Although martial in nature, the shade card had a marked fun, casual vibe as oxblood, vanilla, wine, cobalt, champagne and forest green livened up the collection. For the solids and embellished garments, Kunal worked with cool linen, muslin, silk and some corded fabrics. The silhouettes were restricted to kurtas, churidars, shirts, muscle sleeve tunics, waistcoats, bundies, bandhgala jackets and sherwanis – some with rich tonal texturing and embroidery.

The very regimental ethnic wear was teamed with the footwear collection from Reliance Footprint, which featured brogue lace-ups, and some slip-ons in brown, black, two-tone patent leather options of black/beige or maroon/beige. Bringing the show to a very high impact end, was Bollywood’s latest poster boy and star of the hit film ‘Kapoor and Sons’ Siddharth Malhotra who looked his dashing best in a waistcoat, beige embroidered kurta and fitted trousers with smart black lace-ups to add class to his feet.

Here was a collection that had a great blend of contrasts in style and designs with a high octane men’s wear fashion blast from the past with modern inputs. When it comes to making a strong impactful statement, fashionable men should look only ‘Between the Lines’ and let Kunal Rawal turn them into style icons.
