American-Asian artist, Kaly, is back with a brand new track, titled “Welcome to Agrabah.” This is the first release from his next project, a 10-track album titled Letters from Agrabah Vol. 1.
The song was produced by Kaly’s associate Supakou, who produced the majority of his previous projects as well. The song stars off with a piece from the soundtrack of the hit film Taal. Speaking about this track Kaly explains the inspiration, conception and purpose of “Welcome to Agrabah,”
“From the moment the track starts, you will understand what it is I am trying to do with this project. It will hit you hard in the face, and my rap is relentless on it. I have not dumbed down my lyrics and I am not pandering to the Indian crowd. I have simply taken the music of my youth and fused it with the music I love…All I know is that I am sick and tired of what gets play nowadays; what the youth are subjected to under the guise of “music”. This is my effort to offer something else. I utilized my culture in creating it, but I did not pervert it as so many other artists do. It isn’t for everybody, and I will most likely be met with opposition. That’s nothing new.
Kaly may not think this track is for everybody but we’re loving it! “Welcome to Agrabah” is the first of many releases that will be coming in the next few weeks, if you want to check out more music from Kaly check out his website! Kaly will be releasing more tracks from Letters from Agrabah Vol.1 so stay tuned for more updates!
