015’s Cafe (Mumbai) Launches Live Band Performances

O15's CafeMumbai’s becoming a hot spot for cafes!  The latest venue to open is in Andheri West and is called the O15’s Cafe.  015’s Cafe is located at 1st Floor (Rear Entrance), Mohid Heights Tower, Near Gyan Kendra, Lokhandwala Lane, Andheri (W), Mumbai – 400058.

Indians love music, so why should the cafes be any different?  O15’s Cafe will be hosting live band performances every Thursday 9 pm onward!  Best of all, the entry is free. The venue is also launching in Malad soon, and bands will also feature there!  Looks like there is plenty of reason for both musicians and live music fans to be excited in Mumbai!

There is a band for every music taste including: The Chudail & Demons (see article here), Shannon & The Silent Riot, Mihir Joshi Band, Ashwin & the Bombay Project and The Beatroute, among many other critically acclaimed artists the venue has showcased already! Below follows their January through February calendar.

Spud in The Box

January 16th: The Kanchan Daniel Band

The Kanchan Daniel Band is a blues-rock band that is a fresh addition to the musical life in the city. This talented group of youngsters and their soulful sound has been building a buzz in the Mumbai scene. The Kanchan Daniel Band has performed at Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai, D’Bell Mumbai, Bflat Bar Bangalore, Blue Frog Mumbai, Sophia College, Three Wise Monkeys Mumbai, Kino 108 Mumbai, among several other venues and events.

January 23rd: The Chudail & Demons

The Chudail & Demons (TCAD) is a 5-piece entertaining pop-rock band which performs an interesting collection of originals and covers in English and Hindi. The band was formed by Amanda Sodhi after she moved to Mumbai from Los Angeles. They are getting ready to release their debut 5-track EP ‘Trouble’ which has been mixed by KJ Singh and Ashwin Srinivasan. TCAD has performed at Blue Frog Mumbai, Cavala Goa, Out of the Blue Mumbai, Kaifi Azmi Park Mumbai, 11th East Street Cafe Pune, Percept Art Gallery Mumbai, India Fine Arts Gallery Mumbai, Kino 108 Mumbai, Shockk Mumbai, Della Adventure Lonavala and Prithvi Thetare (Thespo Festival – Mumbai), and they will soon be performing on Kappa TV.

January 25th: Shannon & The Silent Riot

Shannon Pereira returns in a new avatar as Shannon & The Silent Riot. He teams up with four talented musicians in the city, to bring a power house of a show. Shannon was the youngest exclusive artist to be signed by Gibson USA in India at the age of 18. Shannon & The Silent Riot has played at several prestigious venues in India, including Hard Rock Cafe.

January 30th: Spud in The Box

Spud in The Box is a 6-piece alternative pop-rock band. They have opened for some of the biggest acts in India like Indus Creed, Junkyard Groove and Raghu Dixit and have also opened for international artist, Norah Jones (at A Summer’s Day in Mumbai). Spud in The Box has played at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2012 (Pune), the Revival of the Bandstand Festival, The M.A.D. Festival Ooty, Live From The Console at Mehboob Studios, The Celebrate Bandra Festival, Hard Rock Cafe Mumbai, Hard Rock Cafe Delhi, Hard Rock Cafe Hyderabad, Hard Rock Cafe Pune, Cocoparra Pune, High Spirits Pune, Counter Culture Bangalore, Opus Bangalore, Sitara Studios for Control Alt Delete 3 and Blue Frog Mumbai among several other venues. The band released its debut EP, titled ‘Attention Please’ in January 2013.

February 6th: The Samantha Edwards Collective

Samantha Edwards and her band consisting of Ben Fernandez (keys), Karl Peters (bass) and Gino Banks (drums) will showcase a mix of blues, soul and funk. Over the past 20 years, Samantha has performed at over 700 live events and has recorded for over 300 jingles and background scores. She appeared on Season 3 of Coke Studio@MTV in the song “Dum Dum Andar” with Sona Mohapatra. Samantha has worked with many renowned artists including George Brooks, Carlos Santana, Louiz Banks, Dana Gillespie, Ranjit Barot, Barbara Morrison, A.R. Rahman, Pt. Zakir Hussain, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Ram Sampath, Clinton Cerejo, Salim-Sulaiman, Harris Jayaraj and Pritam.

February 13th: Mihir Joshi Band

Mihir Joshi Band (MJB) is an English blues-rock band fronted by singer and ex-RJ, Mihir Joshi. Its inspirations range from jazz, blues, classic rock, alternative rock to metal, and everything in between. MJB’s debut album, “Mumbai Blues” has songs about love, heartbreak, traffic jams, potholes and even Sachin Tendulkar – all the things that give a regular Indian the blues! MJB is now looking forward to the release of “Mumbai Blues” in February on Times Music, and the ensuing album launch tour.

February 20th: Rashid Ali Live

Rashid Ali is the voice behind “Kabhi Kabhi Aditi, Zindagi” from A.R. Rahman’s soundtrack “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na”- the song that became an instant hit and got him numerous nominations and awards. Rashid Ali has regularly and extensively toured the globe with live performances in the US, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, Dubai and more recently with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra to celebrate RD Burman’s music. Rashid Ali and his band will showcase a mix of entertaining songs from his album “Call Me Rashid” as well as Bollywood hits including “Kabhi Kabhi Aditi,” “Kahin To Hogi”, “Cry Cry” (Jhootha Hi Sahi), “Sun Lo Zara” (Ek Deewana Tha), “Bhoola Tujhe” (Blue), “Ishq Ada Hai” (Ada) and “Nazar Laaye” (Raanjhana). Rashid Ali’s distinctive voice, virtuoso guitar skills and great stage presence along with an enormously talented band makes for a killer performance! Expect a mix of soul, jazz, flamenco, world music with Bollywood.

February 27th: Singer-Songwriter Night

Four singer-songwriter acts will be taking the stage including Ronit Chaterji, Alok Kulkarni + Amanda Sodhi, Gaurav Jagwani and Thomas Albert.
