If one had doubts before, there can be no doubts any more that Canadian singer, Shweta Subram, is a star whose talent is beginning to shine more and more with each passing day.  Shweta was discovered by Shankar Mahadevan whose singing competition she won, went on to impress the musical-duo Salim-Sulaiman who picked her to perform with them for IIFA 2011, and has since been making amazing music, working with very talented producers and musicians around the globe.  She’s been working hard to bring quality hits to her fans.  Now, her hard work has paid off, as the talented star has been rewarded with three nominations at the VIMA Awards 2014!  The VIMA Music Awards launched in 2008 as Asia’s first independent music awards program.

VIMA Music Awards was formed in 2008 by Siva Chandran, Tevan Manickam and Merp Premo -3 individuals with different backgrounds who wanted a change in the music scene not only in Malaysia but globally as well.  The team later restructured and co-founder Meera Thuraivel joined the team in 2010 to help elevate the awards platform into 3 other big brands – IndieGo Music Awards (South Asia- India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh & Pakistan), GAMA (Global African Music Awards) and Bite My Music Global Awards (World Cup of Independent music awards). VIMA is presently under the Bite My Music Global Awards platform.

VIMA 2014 Grand Finals is expected to be held in the end of February 2014 at Platinum Club at One City Subang.  This time the awards will allow eligibility to both independent and mainstream acts from all labels in Southeast Asia.  VIMA 2014 will soon also be branching out in India to include a sub-award platform called VIMA India that will recognize musicians from India, in an effort to build a bridge between Southeast Asia and India.
