Bollywood What's Happenin'

*Exclusive* "Promise Land" NYC Red Carpet Premiere

Any time someone hears the words “red carpet premiere” and “NYC,” he/she knows for sure that it is describing a night filled with glamour and style!  I had a chance to attend such a night in NYC for the red carpet premiere of Kevin Dalvi’s film “Promise Land,” and even got to host the red carpet myself!  I caught up with director Kevin Dalvi himself, as well as all the cast members who attended: Elizabeth Abraham, Brenda Barrie, Kamal Joseph Hans, Leena Kurishingal, and Mouzam Makkar.  Hope you enjoy our interview!

The premiere of “Promise Land” was held at one of the most successful theaters in NY – the AMC Empire 25.  It was no small feat to hold a premiere here, and luckily, it was a great success.  Around 370+ attendees joined the event from cast, crew, media persona, and movie lovers of all ages.  In fact, there was also a wait list of people who wanted to get in to see the film!

“Promise Land” is produced by NEQUA Studios’ and Reel Studios and centers on the topic of immigration.  The film features three storylines – (1) The Khan Family, (2) The Aspiring Employees, and (3) The Struggling Couple.  Abraham and Hans play a Mr. and Mrs. Khan in storyline 1, while Makkar plays their daughter.  The family is dealing with visa issues in the film that could potentially tear their family apart.  Kurishingal features as one of the employees in storyline 2, which involves a corrupt boss who is taking advantage of his employees, using their need for visas against them.  Barrie is part of the same-sex couple that drives storyline 3, and reinforces the need for acceptance of all as love has no boundaries.

Overall, the night was memorable and wonderful.  It was evident that the theme of immigration is still very current.  Viewers only had positive things to say about the movie!  Check out pictures from the red carpet below!  Keep it locked to UrbanAsian.com as we bring you details for upcoming screenings!
