It was only going to be a matter of time before we saw more desi versions of the “Harlem Shake.” In case you are in the minority who hasn’t seen this new cultural phenom, the Harlem shake is a new dance/video craze taking the nation by storm. The dance itself started in 1981 and became mainstream in 2001 when G.Dep featured the dance in his music video “Let’s Get It“. However, it really took off after February 2013 earlier this year, when a song named “Harlem Shake” was uploaded to YouTube on May 10, 2012. It went viral and became an internet meme.
This particular version comes from So So Desi Entertainment. It features their crazy, random, and hilarious Indian remix to the song “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore with their take on the Harlem Shake featuring Akram and Altamish!
