Bollywood heroines Kareena Kapoor, Genelia D’souza and Esha Deol all tied the knot this past year and are all set to fast for their beloved husbands in their first Karva Chauth this year! Karva Chauth is a Hindu celebration where married women fast until the moon rises for their wedded bliss, and the health and prosperity of their husbands and children. The fast ends with a loving husband feeding his doting wife her first sip of water at the sighting of the moon rising.
Kareena Kapoor, now Kareena Kapoor-Khan, was recently married to her long time boyfriend Saif Ali Khan. Due to Khan’s lineage, the wedding was of Royal proportions, and was a beautiful blend of tradition and glamour. Bollywood is still buzzing with the news of the wedding where the new bride even wore her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore’s wedding dress! It was altered by Ritu Kumar to fit Kareena Kapoor-Khan and she looked stunning!
This isn’t Kareena Kapoor Khan’s first Karva Chauth – the actress has been fasting for Khan since 2010! It’s her third time fasting! In the past, we’ve heard she’s fasted through exhausting days of promoting and shooting films like Golmaal 3 in Delhi. This year, however, Kapoor and Khan will spend a quiet day together for her first Karva Chauth as a married woman.
Bollywood’s sweetest couple, Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza also held a glamorous, star studded wedding that had Bollywood buzzing this year. The couple held a full blown traditional Indian wedding as well as a church wedding. The couple had been dating quietly for years before they openly announced their relationship to the public.
D’souza was mum about her plans for this year’s Karva Chauth, but we’ve heard she has a special surprise for her husband. Hope the adorable couple enjoy some quality time together!
Lastly, the Deol baby girl, Esha was married to the illustrious Bandra business man, Bharat Takhtani earlier this year. The beautiful actress’ even more beautiful mother, Hema Malini confirmed that Esha Deol will be fasting this year for Karva Chauth.
The newlywed couple will not only be celebrating their first Karva Chauth but Esha Deol’s 30th birthday as well! She even tweeted:
“My birthday and my first karva chauth!!! Will wait for the moon n then eat my Bday cake!!!”
