With only its third year in existence, the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) has set forth an impressive benchmark whilst applauding, appreciating and awarding talented musicians of Indian origin globally. Presented by Wizcraft International, Pvt. Ltd., with sponsorship from Chevrolet, Star and numerous innovators of the music industry; GiMA has honored some impeccable and well-deserved individuals this year. This grand celebration provides justice to artists that have decreased borders and erased boundaries through their music.
The awards are divided into two categories; Film Music & Non-Film Music. Each category has its own set of jury members that comprise of distinguished names who have been of great value to the Indian music fraternity.

The celebration took place at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, India on Monday, October 1st, 2012. Saif Ali Khan & Parineeti Chopra were the hosts for the evening that comprised of exuberant performances by Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan (accompanied by his sons – Siddarth & Shivam), Sukhvinder Singh amongst various others. Composer-duo Salim & Suleiman Merchant provided a glimpse of their upcoming Sa Re Ga Ma Pa initiative/concert – The Bollywood Musical. A.R Rahman, who received a total of four awards, was commended on completing two decades in the Indian music industry. Amongst other special recognitions; Smt. Girija Devi was felicitated with the prestigious Life Time Achievement Award and Pandit Jasraj was honored with the Global Indian Musician Award.
