Legendary Bollywood actor Dev Anand dies in London

The Bollywood legend, Dev Anand who completed 88 years of his life passed away in London last night following cardiac arrest. Dev Anand, who had come here for a medical check up, was not keeping well for the last few days, family sources told PTI. His son, Sunil, was with him when he took his last breathe.

Dev Anand made his debut as an actor in 1946 in “Hum Ek Hain”. By the time his “Ziddi” was released in 1947 he was a superstar and has never looked back.

Dev Anand is the ‘Evergreen Romantic Superstar’ of Indian Cinema. The mention of his name conjures up images of youthfulness, romance and style in the minds of his millions of fans and admirers the world over. After having played the lead actor for more than five decades in over 110 motion pictures, the awe-inspiring Dev Anand continued to be actively involved in Indian cinema till the end. He has given a new dimension to that magical state known as Stardom.

Dharam Dev Anand born 26 September, 1923, better known as Dev Anand is an Indian Hindi Cinema actor, director and film producer.

Dev Anand was honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002 for his contributions towards Indian cinema.

He won two Filmfare Awards for ‘Best Actor’–in 1958 for his performance in the film “Kala Paani”, and in 1966 for his performance in Navketan Intemational’s “Guide” .
