Looks like the phrase “Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Hai” holds strong even at the box office. DON 2, the sequel to DON: The Chase Begins Again (2006) has generated the biggest Bollywood opening of 2011 in North America! Both movies starred Shahrukh Khan as the titular character.
This new action-packed thriller grossed $2.1 million over the four-day Christmas weekend! Playing in 161 theaters across the U.S. and Canada, the Farhan Akhtar-directed hit averaged a stellar $12,566 per theater, which nearly matched the $12,794 average of the number one film in America, Tom Cruise’s own action sequel Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
DON 2 continues to see strong weekday crowds and is on track to become one of the top five all-time Bollywood blockbusters in North American box office history.
