DON 2 dominates box office

Looks like the phrase “Don Ko Pakadna Mushkil Hi Nahin, Namumkin Hai” holds strong even at the box office.  DON 2, the sequel to DON: The Chase Begins Again (2006) has generated the biggest Bollywood opening of 2011 in North America!    Both movies starred Shahrukh Khan as the titular character.

This new action packed thriller grossed $2.1 million over the four-day Christmas weekend!  Playing in 161 theaters across the U.S. and Canada, the Farhan Akhtar-directed hit averaged a stellar $12,566 per theater, which nearly matched the $12,794 average of the number one film in America, Tom Cruise’s own action sequel Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

DON 2 continues to see strong weekday crowds and is on track to become one of the top five all-time Bollywood blockbusters in North American box office history.
