Breakaway, which is will be releasing under ‘Speedy Singhs’ title is all set to release on 23rd September 2011 in UK and India. Breakaway will be releasing on 30th September 2011 in rest of the world.
Breakaway, is a cross-cultural hockey drama set in the Indo-Canadian community of Toronto, Canada, directed by Robert Lieberman. The movie revolves around a young Indian ice hockey player, played by promising debutant Vinay Virmani caught between family’s traditional expectations and a dream to make it in the national sport of his adopted country.
Breakaway also had the honour to premiere at the prestigious TIFF on 10th September 2011, a day after Akshay Kumar’s birthday. Akshay Kumar’s Production house Hari Om Entertainment co-produces the movie along with First Take Entertainment and Alliance Films.
