Shehnaai Couture Hosts First Official Fashion's Night Out Party for Indian Couture Designer Collections

This year’s Fashion’s Night Out in New York City was even more spectacular than the ones in the past. For the first time, South Asian fashionistas were treated to a fashion show and party celebrating Indian Couture Collections at Shenaai Couture’s new Fifth Avenue showroom.

Fashion’s Night Out (FNO), now in its third year, is a worldwide fashion event hosted by Vogue Magazine, Mayor Bloomberg, NYC & Company and the CFDA to celebrate and support the fashion and retail industry. With celebrities, designers and stars performing and mingling with shoppers, FNO is a night to celebrate through unique shopping events and happenings.

Over two hundred people, including red carpet celebrities, packed the Shenhaai Couture showroom to watch the fashion show, which featured designs by Geetanjali Singh and Sabah Arenja of Saa.n. shé. Alongside bridal lehngas and saris, guests were also wowed with embellished gowns and suits in beautiful bright and vibrant colors. The finale of the Saa.n.shé collection featured actress Deepti Gupta wearing a royal blue and orange silk ensemble. The finale of Geetanjali Singh’s collection included comedian Vidur Kapur and actors Samrat Chakraberi and Sanjiv Jhaveri dressed in bespoke menswear. Shetal Shah, Purva Bedi and Alysia Reinar were also amount the celebrity guests.

“We are very excited to be a part of Fashion’s Night Out,” says Shirin Vinayak, owner of Shehnaai Couture. “Our participation in the event shows the global nature of fashion. It’s a testament to the prevalence of Indian designers in this market and the strength of the South Asian-American community.”

Shenhaai Couture’s FNO event was co-hosted by Bibi Magazine, a bridal and fashion magazine that focuses on South Asian designers. Hair and makeup was done by Karuna Chani of KC makeup and featured soft eyes with bold red lips. The legendary DJ Kucha deejayed the afterparty. Sponsors for the event included Kingfisher beer, which is a brand synonymous with fashion, music and good times, Sweet Silk confections and a number of makeup companies for the gift bags.

Shehnaai Couture is known as New York City’s leading house for high-end Indian labels such as Sabyasachi, Vikram Phadnis, Prriya & Chintan, Amber &Shirrin, Private Collections by Zeenat Sayani, Neeta Bhargava and Geetanjali Singh mixed in with newcomers such as Saa.n.shé, Zene by Priya and Farzeen, Bhauni by Jyoti Sharma and Sapana Amin. Each of Shehnaai has an established brand presence in India and each designer’s collection is indicative of the designer’s individuality. The boutique stays completely on trend with the fashion of India by showcasing multiple designers and using a seasonal rotation.

About Sabah Arenja of Saa.n.shé

Created in 2008 by mother-daughter duo, Sheetal and Sabah Arenja in the fashion capital of India, Bombay, Saa.n.shé is best known for its colorful bridal gowns and evening wear.
