Jagjit Singh in stable condition after sufferring brain hemorhage

Ghazal King, Jagjit Singh suffered a brain hemorrhage on Friday morning, he was in critical condition and had to be rushed into surgery to remove clots from his brain. The singer, who was scheduled to perform Friday along side Pakistani Ghazal singer Ghulam Ali at a concert at Shanmukhananda Hall, is finally in stable condition.

After a weekend in critical condition where he was in the ICU breathing via a ventilator, Doctors say that he is recovering well but must remain in the ICU. To protect the patient’s privacy, the hospital will not provide details on his health, only that he is finally in stable condition.

Sadly this isn’t the first time a health issue Singh has faced, in January 1998, he suffered a heart attack, which led him to quit smoking, and then October 2007, he was hospitalised following blood circulation problems. Fellow artists have all joined together in this time of sadness in the music industry. Akshay Kumar tweeted on Friday:

God knows what’s wrong with this world, now Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh suffers from brain hemorrhage. Sending him good wishes and praying for his well being.

Sonu Niigaam also turned to twitter to show his concern for the Ghazal singer, tweeting on Friday:

Jagjitji is alive. On ventilators though. Jst spoke 2 my frnd Deepak Pandit. He’s bn there d whole nght. Nxt 15 hrs 3 crucial. Prayers.

He then tweeted an update at night stating:

Jagjitji is stable thanks to evry1’s prayers. Bhagvaan aasheervaad dey. He’s responding to treatments. God bless all.

The Ghazal singer rose to fame with wife, singer Chitra Singh, in the 1970’s. Chitra Singh stopped performing after the unfortunate death of their only son, Vivek in the early 1990’s. Hariharan took his place at the concert with Gulam Ali, but we are sure the love and prayers of his fans will bring back Jagjit Singh to the stage again very soon!

Urban Asian’s A&R rep. said  “Jagjit Singh always said you live only once and I’m just too young only 70..

With such an optimistic attitude, Singh will be out of the ICU in no time, our prayers go out to Jagjit Singh, for a quick recovery!
