Lata Mangeshkar hits “Kabhi Kabhi” and “Chalte Chalte” get the remix treatment for upcoming movie, “Everywhere + Nowhere”. Everywhere+Nowhere is a raw, powerful and funny coming-of-age film that focuses on the identity struggles of Ash, a young British Asian who is torn between the traditions of suburban family life and his passion for DJ-ing.
The dynamic soundtrack is a constant force throughout the film, perfectly capturing Ash’s turbulent path from bedroom DJ to one of the biggest DJs on the party circuit. The fusion of popular Asian & Bollywood music, dub-step and urban beats makes for a unique and contemporary soundtrack and is an integral dimension in a film that tackles the culture clashes faced by 21st century British Asians. It perfectly captures the young desi wanting to carve his/her own path in modern society – independent of the typical med school/engineering path Indians are known to follow.
‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Kabhi Kabhi’ are two prominent tracks from the film and both are re-workings of classics originally sung by the legendary Bollywood playback singer Lata Mangeshkar.
‘Chalte Chalte’ is remixed by the Engine Earz Experiment, a unique live dub-step act that have remixed for Basement Jaxx and Dreadzone, performed two Maida Vale sessions for the BBC and supported The Streets at their last ever gig. They are regular fixtures on the festival circuit.
‘Kabhi Kabhi’ is remixed by Sukh Knight, who is part of True Tiger and has toured with Enter Shikari across the UK. Previous hits have included tracks for Professor Green and P Money, the latest of which was “Slang Like This”.
Everywhere+Nowhere, directed by acclaimed Bangladeshi writer and director Menhaj Huda (Kidulthood) releases in the UK on 6th May and stars James Floyd (The Infidel, Tormented), Adam Deacon (Kidulthood, Adulthood, 188.8.131.52, Shank, Anuvahood),Shivani Ghai (Bride & Prejudice), singer/songwriter Simon Webbe from chart-topping boy band Blue (singers of “One Love”, “All Rise”, etc.) and legendary actors Saeed Jaffrey and Art Malik.
