Following the success of Raghu Dixit appearing live from India for desiFEST’s Canadian Music Week showcase, desiFEST concert series continued making history by delivering a packed showcase with Junofest (presented by Luv To Bhang) event on Friday March 25th, 2011 at the Courthouse in Toronto, Ontario.
Canadian R&B singer Deesha, a 2007 JUNO Nominee for best R&B/soul recording, entertained the crowd with her sultry vocals and dance moves, while Pakistani folk artist Ef-Khan rocked the stage with his live band.
Traveling all the way from the UK, bhangra superstar H-Dhami returned to Toronto after many years, and kept the crowd dancing on their feet with performances of his hit tracks such as “Sadke Java” and “Tere Bina Nai Nachna” (a collaboration with Canadian band En Karma from Vancouver).
Closing the show was Canadian rap artist Blitzkrieg (a two time Asian Music Award nominee and title holder of 4 top ten singles on the BBC Asian Network) with a full band performance and surprise guest, Canadian rap legend Choclair. Joining Blitzkrieg was UK Bhangra superstar Juggy D, with the two close friends performing their hit track “Take Your Picture” live, which was released late last year.
Host SatsB had the Courthouse crowd screaming for more and dancing all night long.
desiFEST concert series brings alive the magic of live performances and prides itself on providing a musical platform that bridges barriers, celebrates diversity, encourages unity and instils a sense of Canadian pride.
