3 Unsold Players KKR Should Have Picked In The Auction

The Kolkata Knight Riders are One Of The More Successful Teams in the IPL having won the IPL twice. Kolkata Knight Riders under the captainship of Gautam Gambhir and Dinesh Kartik after that were a really good team and were always in the running for the title.

But in this year’s IPL their team has undergone quite a few changes, but their core has remained the same since last year with Kartik, Uthappa, Gill and Russell being the group to hold the Dream11 Team together, Although KKR has a set squad, seeing their performance last year picking up some good new players would have certainly helped their cause.

The three players KKR should have picked up at the IPL 2020 auction are:

1: Martin Guptill is the first player that comes to mind, not just KKR but it came as a surprise that no team put their foot forward and went in for Martin Guptill, Guptill is a great player with a pretty impressive International record and he would have certainly been a big addition to the KKR lineup. Guptill and Lynn opening would have given Robin Uthappa to come a little down the order and tighten the inexperienced middle order, while he could also work as just a substitute to Chriss Lynn who has been far from good.

2: Ish Sodhi is another who comes to mind, Sodhi is a willy leg spinner one who can outfox the batsmen at any point, he has a good International record and has taken 47 T20 International wickets and would have been a great addition to the KKR IPL2020 squad as they don’t have a quality leg spinner in their squad this time around. Ish would have been a great fit for them and would have been an ideal responsible for the now unavailable Piyush Chawla who has been a magnificent performer for KKR over the years.

3: Kesrick Williams is the 3rd player KKR should have picked as he brings around the West Indian competitive nature with him, Apart from just being competitive Kesrick is also a great bowler and can certainly bat a little, he recently took 12 wickets in the Caribbean Premier League, Kerick even performed pretty well in the recently concluded series against India considering the form of the Indian batsmen. Williams has already taken 41 wickets in 24 T20’s he has played and is a genuine wicket-taking bowler. KKR should have gone for me considering their bowling options. Sure they have Cummins now but he must need a partner and replacement at some point and that is what Williams would have been, and even Rusell doesn’t have Carlos as a backup or partner this time around and Williams could have been that too considering his all-round abilities.

Adam Zampa and Colin de Grandohome are the other players KKR could have looked to sign. When the auction ended KKR still had around 8.5crs in their purse and that money could have been to good use in strengthening a squad that has the potential to do well in the tournament but if KKR had signed these players they would have a much better chance of winning the title.
