Hidden Heroes – A chat with Anupam Kher on Hotel Mumbai!
A gripping true story of humanity and heroism, HOTEL MUMBAIvividly recounts the 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel by a group of terrorists in Mumbai, India. Among the dedicated hotel staff are the renowned chef Hemant Oberoi (Anupam Kher) and a waiter (Academy Award-Nominee Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire) who choose to risk their lives to protect their guests. As the world watches on, a desperate couple (Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name and Nazanin Boniadi, “Homeland”) is forced to make unthinkable sacrifices to protect their newborn child.
The attacks that occurred in Mumbai at the Taj Hotel left everyone speechless and sad. This film portrays so much more than it as humanity takes over evil. Anupam Kher plays the chef Hemant Oberoi character and we had a chance to speak with him about his role and how he prepared for it. As a film-goer- one word was left when I left the screening and that was Humanity. If this film does not bring you tears than I don’t know what will?
Humanity fighting evil is what this film portrays. Dev Patel who also was in the film also did a tremendous job saving the people in the film from evil across the film. Hidden Heros are defined so well in the film. Terrorism has not just become in one country but all over the world and the story needed to be told.
