A respectful farewell to a legend – Jagjit Singh

October 10, 2011 India lost one of it’s most respected artists – the legendary ghazal singer, Jagjit Singh. Known as “The Ghazal King”, Jagjit rose to fame in the mid-70s and ’80s along with his wife, renowned Indian Ghazal singer Chitra Singh. The two went on to become the most successful husband-wife music-duo in India. As for Jagjit, he rendered several hit ghazals for movies such as Prem Geet (1981), Arth and Saath Saath (1982), along with TV serials Mirza Ghalib (1988) and Kahkashan (1991). In addition, he rendered ghazals for more recent Bollywood movies – Dushman, Sarfarosh, Tum Bin and Tarkeeb.

Coming from a Sikh background, Jagjit was laid to rest with a traditional cremation.  We have exclusive pictures from the somber event.  Please join us in remembering Jagjit Singh.
