The story of Kabir Khan and the Women’s hockey team is one for the ages as director Shimit Amin neatly presents the same in 2 hours and 33 minutes. You have superstar Shah Rukh Khan playing the lead along with other promising actors who have established themselves in their respective characters.

- Bhaag Milkha Bhaag
India’s Flying Sikh needs no introduction. The legendary athlete gets a well-deserved biography directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and starring Farhan Akhtar, Divya Dutta, Japtej Singh, Sonam Kapoor and others. Not once will you feel bored during the long run time of 3 hours and 6 minutes because it is a complete entertainer.
As a sports movie, it is as real as possible and you can clearly understand that the actors have worked hard to put up a show for you.
- Paan Singh Tomar
There were hardly any roles or characters that the late Irrfan Khan couldn’t do. He used to effortlessly portray difficult characters and Paan Singh Tomar was one among them. A story about a soldier from the Indian army who went on to win a gold medal at the National Games is inspiring by itself and much more when you see an actor like Irrfan Khan play the lead role.
Not so surprisingly, the legendary star won the National Award for best actor and the movie, the National Award for Best Feature Film.
- Lagaan
In the times of IPL where people are searching for IPL betting using apps, a movie like Lagaan might feel odd. However, the legendary movie can be watched a hundred times and you will still be touched by all that it portrays. A simple village playing cricket against Englishmen, who also ruled the country, is not something you get to see every other day.
And for all its efforts, Lagaan was rightfully nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was only made on a whopping budget of 250 Million Rupees, which also tells you about all the efforts that have gone into making this classic.
- Iqbal
There are hardly any inspirational movies out there that can get you going like Iqbal. Starring top stars like Naseeruddin Shah and Shreyas Talpade, the movie centres around a story of a deaf and dumb farmer’s son, who, through all the odds, succeeds in making it to the Indian team.
Despite playing under the guidance of an alcoholic ex-player, the story captures its central character’s determination and willingness to achieve what many would consider to be the impossible. And thankfully, it went on to be a classic and is one movie that you need to be watching.
