Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival (VISAFF) Returns This November

The Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival (VISAFF) will return this November with a fantastic array of films, workshops, and panel discussions to entertain and educate film enthusiasts in the Lower Mainland and attendees from across Canada and the world. VISAFF will run from November 9-13 and has a lineup of over 75 films, including 11 features and 8 documentaries. This is our biggest year yet!

Influenced by Canada’s multicultural mosaic and a reflection of the diverseness of the people from the Asian subcontinent, the theme for the festival this year is Unity in Diversity. The selection of films will shine the spotlight on global talent that goes beyond the Bollywood screen and bring authentic South Asian voices to the center stage.

“VISAFF celebrates diversity and promotes inclusion through films, arts, and culture to help build a stronger multicultural society,”

says VISAFF producer Mannu Sandhu.

“Every year, we find ways to celebrate unique perspectives, and not only provide a platform for new talent but create a bridge between storytellers and the community.”

During the long Thanksgiving weekend, VISAFF unveiled a much-anticipated festival trailer for 2022 at an industry-only networking event at the SFU Goldcorp Centre for the Arts and welcomed long-standing supporters and new patrons such as the Royal Bank of Canada as champions of diversity and inclusion. The official poster has multiple iterations with each version paying homage to a different local community and the Indigenous lands we are present on.
