2021 is a year best known for a surge of fresh talent and beautiful faces. We want to highlight the top 20 according to us with no particular ranking since each individual won the hearts of the audience with their stellar performances. The 2021’s list of Top 20 newcomers of Indian television wants to explore raw and upcoming talent and put them in the spotlight for people who have not yet had the chance to see their work.
Actress Alice Kaushik plays the lively, innocent Raavi on the hugely popular television show “Pandya Store” and fans can’t get enough of her and Shiva.
Seen as Krish Pandya on the “Pandya Store”, Mohit just shines as the fun-loving Krish on an ensemble cast with so many well-known faces.
Another “Pandya Store” alum, Akshay Kharodia plays the role of Dev Pandya. His pivotal role on the show highlights the importance of having strong characters and actors to make an ensemble show successful.
Sai Ketan Rao
Although he worked on a few Telugu shows prior to “Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali”, his portrayal as Raghav Rao caused so much stir that he was in the top 20 list of Indian television leading males within the first week of his debut. Talk about making the fans go gaga with Raghav’s charm and onscreen aura. Not to mention, his body language always stands out.
Another newcomer that became an overnight sensation, Shivangi Khedkar plays a young widow that gets married out of revenge and falls into a passionate love story. This enemy to lovers trope was adored by fans and they pointed out how well Shivangi emotes an array of fiery with just her eyes.
Richa makes a debut as a leading lady with “Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha”, where she plays the strong-willed Nandini. Her dialogue delivery and command of diction make her a newbie to watch out for.
Marathi actress Hemal Ingle makes her television debut with the period drama Vidrohi, starring Sulgana Panigrahi. She plays it with such impeccable body language and grace.
As the grey-shaded, Aarohi on “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai”, Karishma shines as the current antagonist. Fans love to hate Aarohi due to the fact that Karishma lives and breathes her character with so much authenticity.
She is known for playing the lead role of Mahi Chopra in Zee TV’s show “Teri Meri Ikk Jindri”, where Amandeep is receiving so much love and support from her fans with her natural performance.
Aanchal Goswami made her debut with “Rishton Ka Manjha”, where she plays Diya, a girl bursting with zeal and a never-say-die approach to life. Her chemistry with co-star Krushal has made this one of the most popular fan-favorite shows of the season.
His portrayal of the brooding Arjun on “Rishton Ka Manjha” made him an instant star with fans loving the way he silently emotes his character’s frustration and anger with so much ease. And of course, the fans love the way his character supports Diya.
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary
The next newcomer of Indian television is Priyanka, making her debut with “Udaariyaan”. Initially, Priyanka felt a huge sense of responsibility playing a lead character on her shoulders. However, her positive and strong character is winning hearts.
Although a strong supporting character on many shows, this marks the first time for Ankit Gupta to star as a lead character in a television show. With “Udaariyaan”, his character might be disliked for his actions; however, Ankit is adored by fans. This is a testament to his performance that someone so well-loved can play such a flawed, grey character with poise and honesty.
Another member from the “Udaariyaan” team makes one of the top newcomers of Indian television this year as well. Isha is known as a spectacular dancer and keeps her fans amazed by posting her dancing videos in which she beautifully showcases her stunning moves. However, she has amazed them with her honest portrayal of a grey character.
Next is Surabhi, who touched the hearts of so many with her debut. Surabhi plays the role of a girl from Sikkim who falls in love with a Marathi boy and shifts to Mumbai to be with him. However, her character has to deal with discrimination and face deep-rooted prejudices. And boy oh boy, she excels and I can hardly remember this marks her debut.
Anchal Sahu makes her spot on the list with 2 remarkable performances this year. One is the role of grown-up Bondita in “Barrister Babu” and second, her debut as a leading lady earlier in the year on the show “Kyun Uthe Dil Chod Aye”. Talk about versatility and the ability to shine in not one but 2 different characters in a single year.
Moving on next to Aetashaa Sansgiri, who is playing the titular role of Ahilyabai Holkar in the historical drama “Punyashlok Ahilyabai”. She has an exceedingly subtle and organic approach to her character’s emotions. This has really made her stand out.
To continue forth, we next have model-turned-actress Chandni Sharma. She plays Akanksha on “Kaamnaa”, where her character resonates with both Millenials and Gen Z for being a strong and ambitious woman. She plays a very relatable character that had the audience connect with her instantly.
Mayuri makes her Hindi television debut in “Teri Laadli Main” as an unwanted mute girl child Bitti who fights for her father’s acceptance against all odds. This character is out of her comfort zone and she does full justice to the role and conveys emotions solely through expressions.
Gouri makes her debut with “Amma Ke Babu Ki Baby” as Baby, a spoiled city girl. This comedy of errors to romance story allows Gouri to play a diverse range of emotions and show off her versatility. We look forward to seeing Gouri continuing to take up more unique stories and characters like this.
