Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam battling the novel coronavirus since last month, passed away at 74. A medical bulletin from the hospital said, he was on extreme life support.
The hospital shared a statement release on SP’s death news. He gave his voice to thousands of songs spanning across languages and genres and has won six National awards.
SP Balasubrahmanyam had been awarded many accolades in his five-decade long career. He won Padma Shri Award in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2011. He had recorded over 40,000 songs in several languages.

- Pehla Pehla Pyar
This super-hit song from the film Hum Aapke Hain Koun is one of the best songs sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam. The lyrics of the song were penned by Dev Kohli and the music is by Ram Laxman. Sooraj R Barjatya’s film, Hum Aapke Hain Koun released in 1994 and starred Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit among others.
2. Wah Wah Ramji
Another song from Hum Aapke Hain Koun. SP Balasubrahmanyam sung this one in collaboration with celebrated singer Lata Mangeshkar.
3. Dekha Hai Pehli Baar
From the film Saajan, the song Dekha Hai Pehli Baar was sung by SP Balasubrahmanyam and Alka Yagnik. The romantic number went on to become the top song of its time. The film, Saajan, starred Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, and Kader Khan among others.
