The Brands To Shop This International Women’s Day

Spread the love

This March 8th, commemorate International Women’s Day by buying from brands that are donating proceeds from sales to nonprofit initiatives supporting women! Urban Asian recognizes four mission-driven brands in four different categories that are amplifying women’s empowerment. Learn how these brands are giving back on March 8th:

Undergarments

The inclusive bra company Harper Wilde and bullying prevention nonprofit Kind Campaign have teamed up to create the Be Kind Bra – an everyday bra to match all women’s needs and proceeds help contribute to Kind Campaign’s programming to bring an end to girl-against-girl bullying. From February 3rd – March 15, 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to Kind Campaign. On March 8, International Women’s Day, 100 percent of proceeds will be donated to Kind Campaign.

Clothes

Dame is a female-founded collection of timeliness wardrobe essentials and vintage pieces that are sustainably created in downtown Los Angeles. The inspiration behind Dame is attributed to helping shoppers build a more sustainable and eco-friendly closet. Dame retrieves residual fabrics leftover from fashion houses and repurposes leftover silk straps and deadstock to create their elevated pieces. On International Women’s Day (March 8th), Dame will donate 10% of all sales made that day to the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles.

Jewelry

Akola employs more than 200 women living in extreme poverty in Uganda, changing their lives with job opportunities. Each Akola piece is handcrafted by these women using locally-sourced, high-quality materials. With every Akola purchase, 100% of profits are reinvested back into the women that create the jewelry, uplifting no only their livelihoods, but their families and communities too.

Shoes

Puma is giving away ultraviolet laces, the official color of IWD to support females around the globe. The laces will be provided with every Puma footwear purchase on Puma.com and at the New York flagship store from March 1st – 8th. Puma is also launching a social media initiative: for every unique Instagram post that includes a picture of the laces with the hashtag #PUMAWomen, Puma will donate an additional one euro to Women Win. In total, the brand will make a donation of up to 100,000 euros.
