Namarata Datta: Breakup Remedy Grow Stronger And Flaunt It

Meet Namarta Datta a today’s woman and a doctor. Namarata is MS in Computer Science, Zoology n EVS (environmental planning n mangement). Climate scientist working on Dynamic Environmental Models, #Traveller #Nomad.

So here we are catching up, rectifying the state of the world and moaning about women empowerment. The topic over the tea among friends starts with the wave of essentialism once more sweeping the woman’s world. In this man’s world, women are expected to work, get married and produce children. Is it really a man’s world or women just need to take ownership and realize what they are worth?

We came across this incredible tweet that was retweeted 114k and was liked 347k by a doctor. A truly inspiring story of a woman who broke up and worked on herself.

Tell us about yourself ….
I am a very simple woman, but I am very strong willed. If I want to do something I make it happen. I love ice cream 😀

My ex-boyfriend used to tell me I am not a good homemaker. As a woman, apparently, my primordial role was to be a good homemaker. To be honest, at that point in time, I was earning more than him and was in a better company than him. So one day he broke up without even telling me. I was hurt. Emotions sometimes get the best of you. I left my job and started working on my education (my ex hated me for reading so much). Today I have a Ph.D. and I love being that. So, literally after so many years, my ex pinged me on FB asking if I got married. I told him, I have a doctorate now. So not a Miss or Mrs, but a Dr.

If you were not a scientist?
I would probably run an NGO working for education for the underprivileged and of course adult education.

What do you do in your free time?
I travel a lot. That’s my hobby.

What is your favorite quote?

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

What is the best fix for a heartbreak according to you?

Best fix for heartbreak is to become better than your ex and then flaunt it.

What is women empowerment to you?
To answer this question, I will quote a poem I love..
A father asks his daughter:
Study? Why should you study?
I have sons aplenty who can study.
Girl, why should you study?
The daughter tells her father:
Since you ask, here’s why I must study.
Because I am a girl, I must study.
Long denied this right, I must study
For my dreams to take flight, I must study
Knowledge brings new light, so I must study
For the battles I must fight, I must study
Because I am a girl, I must study.
To avoid destitution, I must study
To win independence, I must study
To fight frustration, I must study
To find inspiration, I must study
Because I am a girl, I must study.
To fight men’s violence, I must study
To end my silence, I must study
To challenge patriarchy I must study
To demolish all hierarchy, I must study.
Because I am a girl, I must study.
To mould a faith I can trust, I must study
To make laws that are just, I must study
To sweep centuries of dust, I must study
To challenge what I must, I must study
Because I am a girl, I must study.
To know right from wrong, I must study.
To find a voice that is strong, I must study
To write feminist songs I must study
To make a world where girls belong, I must study.
Because I am a girl, I must study.
