Philadelphia is counting down for “Bollywood Comes to Philly” on Friday April 29th, 2011 as Bollywood Dreams Entertainment, Philadelphia’s premiere South Asian connect to mainstream opportunities, is ready to blow Phillies fans away with the biggest line-up the city has seen.
“The event has been a platform for my company to bring entertainment and culture together and provide South Asian entertainers a means to reach out to thousands of sports fans. As I have seen it grow from my dance team, USP DhamaaL, performing at its first year to now having acclaimed performers and artists from around the world come to it, I can say that this has to be our biggest year yet!” says Mayank Amin, CEO, Bollywood Dreams Entertainment.
The event, which takes place at Citizens Bank Park, will see the artists performing across three areas in front of up to 44,000 people, making it the biggest standalone event for South Asian exposure in Philadelphia. This year’s line-up is a tribute to its eight years of inception, with a sensational blend of new and local entertainers as well as internationally acclaimed artists who have been recognized on a global level in the entertainment industry.
Headlining the event will be Jay Sean, the international Cash Money superstar behind songs such as “Down,” featuring Lil Wayne, “Do You Remember,” featuring Sean Paul, and “2012,” featuring Nicki Manaj. Jay Sean will be honored on the field and make history as the first South Asian to throw the first pitch at a Major League Baseball game.
An avid sports follower herself, TINA says, “I’m a huge sports fan, so it’s an honor to be invited to celebrate my heritage and culture with my community as well as other sports fans! I’m excited to sing my latest single at Citizen’s Bank Park.”
Beginning at 5:45PM at the Third Base Plaza, there will be a concert hosted by the beautiful and talented Mumbai Chopra, the star of the hit online series, Landing in Mumbai. In addition to the singing, award-winning dance troupes Aatma Performing Arts and Broadstreet Baadshahz along with RU Dhol Effect and DJ Pulse will entertain fans by fusing the best of the West with the beats of the East.
“It’s so inspiring to have all of my worlds collide! Having grown up in Philly and getting Phillies game tickets for good grades in school, never did I imagine that I’d have the privilege of bringing my Desi flavor to my home team.” Rajé says. “This is just another example of how all the borders and walls are being broken down in every arena. I’m really excited to represent as a Desi and as your homegirl from Philly, it doesn’t get much better than that for a girl like me!”
Rajé Shwari is recognized for her features on songs such as Timbaland’s “Indian Flute” and Jay-Z’s “The Bounce” and now this songstress is making her solo debut. Rajé Shwari’s debut single “Keep a Secret,” off her upcoming album
