SUNNY JAIN RELEASES RHODES TO PUNJAB TO COMMEMORATE 1947 INDEPENDENCE
Composer/drummer Sunny Jain releases his 8th Quarantet music video today titled Rhodes to Punjab. “Celebrating the ancestors, people and culture of Punjab on the 73rd anniversary of India and Pakistan’s independence. We are one,” says Jain. Jain began the Quartet series at the start of the pandemic in an effort to find a meaningful way to be creative and stay connected with other artists. The idea was based on full collaboration with 4 artists and a video director. They remotely recorded and sent tracks back and forth to each other with no agenda except in the moment creativity and quality audio and video production. Today is the release of the 8th Quartet, produced by Sunny Jain, called “Rhodes To Punjab.” This collaboration includes bassist Bubby Lewis (Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre), pianist Rachel Eckroth (Rufus Wainwright, KT Tunstall), violinist Raaginder, director Vishesh Sharma and Jain (Red Baraat) handling drum set, dhol. Sunny Jain released his debut album, Wild Wild East, this year on Smithsonian Folkways Recordings. He is the founder, bandleader, and dhol player for the pioneering global band, Red Baraat, and has also performed with Vijay Iyer, Karsh Kale, Ali Sethi, Peter Gabriel, Junoon, Heems (Das Racist / Swet Shop Boys) and many more.
