The legacy of one of Indian television’s most iconic crime dramas is all set to return with Suraag 2.0. A revival of the much-loved Doordarshan series Suraag – The Clue, the upcoming show promises to bring back the familiar world of crime, investigation and justice while introducing a new generation of officers.
The first look of the series has now been unveiled, offering a glimpse of the powerful connection between the original Suraag and its new chapter.
At the centre of the poster are Sudesh Berry as Bharat and Sai Ketan Rao as Shaurya, with halves of their faces side by side, and dressed in uniform. The striking visual immediately establishes the show’s central theme of a legacy being passed from one generation to the next.
Berry’s return is particularly significant for fans of the original series. He played the iconic character of Crime Branch Inspector Bharat, who became synonymous with Suraag during its original run on Doordarshan. The series, which aired from 1999 to 2002, became known for its crime investigations and gripping cases, with Berry leading the show as Bharat.
Now, Suraag 2.0 takes that legacy forward through Shaurya, Bharat’s son, played by Sai Ketan Rao. Shaurya steps into the world of law enforcement and is set to continue his father’s fight against crime, corruption and injustice.
The first-look poster cleverly hints at this passing of the baton. With Bharat and Shaurya positioned together in uniform, the image not only celebrates the show’s past but also signals that the next generation is ready to take charge.
Sai Ketan Rao, who will headline the new series as Inspector Shaurya Shastri, has also shared the show’s arrival, describing it as a special presentation from Sri Adhikari Brothers and Doordarshan. The series is set to premiere on DD National as well as WAVES, Doordarshan’s streaming platform.
Adding further excitement to the revival is Jigyasa Singh, who will be seen as Nidhima Raje, along with a larger ensemble cast.
The revival therefore appears to be more than just a reboot. It is a story about legacy of a father who built a reputation fighting for justice and a son who now has to step into his footsteps and create an identity of his own.
With Bharat back and Shaurya ready to take the investigation forward, Suraag 2.0 looks set to combine the nostalgia of the original with a fresh generation of crime stories.
