Shiv Jyoti Rajput is stepping into the gritty world of Undekhi Season 4 on Sony LIV with a character unlike anything she has played before. As the actress continues to build her career across films and OTT, Rajput says her biggest priority has been to ensure audiences never feel like they are watching the same character twice.
Joining Undekhi Season 4 also presented a unique challenge because Rajput was entering an already-established ensemble. With several actors having spent multiple seasons developing their characters and relationships, she chose to take a different approach to preparing for the role.
Rajput revealed that she spent several days on set simply observing her co-stars before beginning her own scenes. She studied the established characters, their strengths and weaknesses, and the different energies each actor brought to the series.
Her approach to acting extends beyond Undekhi. Rajput says she views cinema and OTT as an “ocean” with endless opportunities to experiment, which is why she does not want to become comfortable playing the same type of role repeatedly.
She also believes OTT has created more room for layered characters and ensemble storytelling. Unlike traditional films that can revolve heavily around a single hero or heroine, web series can give multiple characters their own arcs, allowing audiences to experience different perspectives and personalities.
