As Sasural Simar Ka fame actor Manish Raisinghani stepped behind the camera to create vertical content like Race Ka Badshah, Engineer Number 1, Jail Ka King, and Jallad CEO, he discovered that talent exists everywhere—it just needs to be recognized and refined. With a career spanning popular shows such as Kaahin Kissii Roz, Kahiin to Hoga, Kkehna Hai Kuch Mujhko, Teen Bahuraniyaan, Sasural Simar Ka, Ek Shringaar–Swabhiman, Katha Ankahee, and Namune, along with work across TV, web shows, a feature film, and now vertical series, Manish continues to evolve as an actor, writer, and creator.
He said,
“Some of our best actors weren’t cast; they were discovered within our own crew. Turns out, talent doesn’t always walk in through auditions; sometimes it’s already on set, just waiting to be noticed. I’ve learned that if you stop forcing people into characters and start shaping characters around people, magic happens. When you play to someone’s natural instincts and lived reality, performance stops looking like acting and starts feeling real.”
“We’ve had moments where an AD, Rishi Da, became a jail inmate and owned the screen, and my co-producer and brother, Jai Shewaramani, who is from Dubai, and I redesigned him as a sheikh, simply by leaning into who he already was. The result? Performances so honest that the edit table had no authority; we couldn’t cut a line even if we wanted to,” he added.
He mentioned that what started as instinct turned into opportunity as each went on to work with other brands too. He said,
“That’s how we function—we don’t slot people, we spot them. We don’t limit skill sets; we expand them. Today, I’m surrounded by all-rounders, people who can step in anywhere, anytime. The kind who can pick up the bat or break a stump when needed. And honestly, that’s the team you want, because stories don’t just need specialists, they need players.”
“Acting made me a professional observer of people—and that’s been my biggest advantage. Helps me get the best out of my team… and occasionally out of myself too. Still learning, still having fun with it,” he added.
Manish also revealed that he uses AI for his shows and said, “
We don’t use AI; we hide it. We mix AI so well into our shows, even we forget where the human ends and the tech begins. All you notice is the story just looks bigger.”
Asked where he learned it from, he responded,
“Today all you need is some curiosity and lots of YouTube. I love technology, and that’s what helped me master AI pretty quickly.”
What next?
” Four web shows are ready for release, and more are already cooking in web space. One big feature film that I have written is about to go on floors. For now verticals are taking a big bite of my time, and they give me that daily ‘riyaaz’ in front of the camera and even behind. Verticals are like another version of TV, and they have their own perks, which I’m totally enjoying as well now. So my creative Keedas are happy and high, as I love telling and writing stories in front of and behind the camera, and when your story comes to life, it feels incredible,” Manish ended.
