Actor Poonam Jangra, who plays Rajni in Tumm Se Tumm Tak produced by Studio LSD, opens up about handling fame, staying motivated, and keeping her identity intact in a demanding industry.

Talking about fame and public attention, she says,

“When I decided to step into this industry, I had already prepared myself mentally for the fame and attention I may receive one day after a successful project. That’s why I don’t consider it as pressure at all, but rather a blessing and something to enjoy.”

Reflecting on what keeps her going during challenging phases, Poonam shares,

“Since childhood, it was my dream to work in this industry as an actress. Even when it felt out of reach, destiny brought me here. Whenever I look out of my balcony and see those skyscrapers, I remind myself how far I’ve come, how much I’ve achieved, and how much more is left. That keeps me going even in tough times.”

She admits that self-doubt does surface occasionally.

“Sometimes I feel I’ve given a good audition, but when there are no reverts, self-doubt creeps in. Then I remind myself that it’s not always about me or my talent. Sometimes the role has different requirements like looks or age.”

Interestingly, Poonam does not feel the need to disconnect from work.

“My escape from work is my work itself. I don’t see it as a burden. For me, I disconnect from the world to work rather than disconnecting from work to live, because this journey feels like a blessing in disguise.”

On staying grounded, she credits her inner circle.

“Close friends and family never stop seeing you as the person you’ve always been. No matter how the world sees you, your family reminds you of who you were before everything.”

Sharing her perspective on criticism, she adds,

“I follow a simple rule that I can never make everyone happy, so I don’t try to. We can’t control how people feel about us, only how we react. I don’t take criticism to heart, nor do I let compliments get to my head. I just do my work and move on.”

Her spiritual connection plays a key role in maintaining balance.

“The key to a balanced mindset for me is my connection to Waheguru. Whenever I am in doubt or even on a regular day, I play shabad and meditate. This, along with an optimistic attitude, keeps me balanced.”

She also follows a daily practice of gratitude.

“Every day I do shukrana to Waheguru, thanking him for everything he has blessed me with and what he will bless me with in the future. This gives me confidence.”

Speaking about maintaining her identity, Poonam explains,

“I make sure I control my switch on and switch off button. It turns on with ‘Action’ and off with ‘Cut’. That way, I never forget who I am behind the screen and stay true to myself.”

Summing up the biggest lesson she has learned so far, she shares,

“I believe in treating everyone with kindness and humility, because you never know what someone is going through or what role they may play in your life.”
