Time For an Education Track on Udne Ki Aasha; Here’s why It’s Important

Spread the love

Udne Ki Aasha is known far and wide for being the most relatable and realistic show on television. Recent events on the show have inspired a discussion about what should be the next chapter, and to be honest, it’s been on my mind for some time now too.

Sachin and Sailee had an eventful week on the show where she was arranging for her flower business to be featured in a popular flea market where even high society shows up. A very cute and relatable scene occurred where the two were trying to fill out an online form to register Sailee’s business. This is the first scene that inspired the discussion to follow. The second one was the rain sequence. After being asked to leave the flea market because they were not properly registered, Sailee posed some real questions to Sachin. She asked him if he felt good or out of place when he was shouting at the market. She told him how the world and times are changing and they have to evolve too, else they will be left behind. She went on to say that those who are educated will always have an edge because they know how to put forward their ideas and thoughts. She also gave him examples of how knowing English can come to use in their own fields.
Now here’s the point of talking about all of this. For months now, I’ve been thinking about Sachin’s education. And I’ve been thinking about how male characters’ evolution and personal growth have mostly been neglected on Indian television. Women empowerment is needed, no doubt, but remember that society will always need every gender on board to move forward. Empowering one while leaving behind or even degrading the other will only cause imbalance in society. Television has the power to shift mindsets and evoke positive change. Isn’t it time to empower men too? Shouldn’t they be empowered to be more human? To be educated and put it to good use? I’ve written something again and again, and that is that the audience relates to the characteristics and values of the character, not the gender.
In female-centric shows, we’ve seen the protagonist getting educated and becoming top professionals, so why not here—when we have such a realistic couple who both have similar challenges and both want to make their dreams a reality?
Sachin Deshmukh is a standout male character who is now part of every Indian home across the globe. He too presents the perfect opportunity to start putting into action what’s been said above. Sachin completing his education will not change his personality or quirks in any way—Sachin is Sachin and nothing will change that. However, an education will help him give flight to his dreams. Imagine in the future, when Sachin owns his taxi business—he may have to coordinate tour vehicles for foreign travellers, or even broaden his services for so many people who speak English as a universal way of communication. This in no way belittles native languages, but it is a fact that English is a universal language, and if Sachin and Sailee want to grow and make their dreams come true, then an education will not only help them learn English, but it will also build their knowledge and help them in many ways.
Renuka says to dream according to your ‘aukaat’ or ‘status.’ How about Sachin and Sailee leveling up and increasing their own individual values? Trust me, this will inspire so many people to start taking steps toward their own dreams too.
One of Nelson Mandela’s most famous quotes is, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
Before changing the world, Sachin and Sailee can change their individual worlds first, and that could make all the difference. Fans have been sharing the same thoughts this week, and it’s given me that push to finally put these thoughts on paper, which I’ve had for a long time now.
I have immense love and respect for the team of this show, and what do we do? They’ve raised the bar high for storytelling with modern and relevant takes on life, and we wish to see more such fresh tracks on the show.
We’re excited to see what’s in store on Udne Ki Aasha, and we hope an education track comes up soon too.
With Love and Admiration for the Udne Ki Aasha Team!
