5 Shows we wish stayed On-Air longer!

Over the last few years, many path-breaking shows faced injustice and had to, unfortunately, end much before the teams and fans anticipated. While several shows faced this, we highlight 5 shows which deserved to stay on-air longer. The closure of these shows remains a heartbreak for fans.

Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil

Produced by Balaji Telefilms, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil featured Arjun Bijlani and Drashti Dhami in the roles of Raghav Mehra and Naina Batra. Set in Austria, it tells the story of an NRI family and how Raghav and Naina cross paths and get married. The show ran from November 2016 until June 2017. The story was unique, and the chemistry between the two was perfect! Pardes was also a leader in international territories. We wish this show lasted much longer as Raghav, who was meant to return to the show after his ‘death,’ did not eventually return due to the show’s closure, and we never got the #RaIna reunion we would have liked. Nevertheless, this show lives in our hearts forever!

Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke

A spin-off of the long-running Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, this show told the story of introverted Mishti Agrawal, played by Rhea Sharma, who grew up in unusual family circumstances and later falls in love with the vibrant Abir Rajvansh, played by Shaheer Sheikh. The two characters became an emotion with their relatability and progressiveness, and this duo was known as #MishBir on social media. The show ran from March 2019 until October 2020 and broke hearts when it bid adieu. We would have loved to see Mishti and Abir navigate more of life’s challenges together.

Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali

Making its start in February 2021 was this show starring debutants Sai Ketan Rao and Shivangi Khedkar as Raghav Rao and Pallavi Deshmukh. Fate tied businesswoman Pallavi, a widow (before Mandar’s re-entry), with jeweller Raghav despite their differences. The sparkling chemistry of the pair, known as #RaghVi, and the fresh and compelling storyline made this show a favourite in no time. We wish this show stayed longer to showcase further progression in characters and story.

Bepannah

A show which combines the romance, drama and thriller genres so perfectly! From March to November 2018, Bepannah featured Harshad Chopda and Jennifer Winget in the roles of Aditya Hooda and Zoya Siddiqui. Aditya and Zoya were betrayed by their spouses and discovered the truth after their spouses’ deaths. The two have different ways of dealing with the deceit but end up moving on together and finding love in each other. There were many mysteries which were uncovered within their family too. This show deserved to stay for its spectacular pair #AdiYa, and a unique take on moving on and dealing with life’s challenges.

Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum

A show which was ahead of its time! Kahaan Hum Kahaan Tum starred Dipika Kakar Ibrahim and Karan V Grover as Sonakshi Rastogi and Dr Rohit Sippy respectively. The show premiered in June 2019 and ended in March 2020.  Sonakshi was an accomplished actress known for her television shows, while Rohit was a top heart surgeon who was also part of his family-owned hospital. While the pair of #RoNakshi was fantastic, this show also gave us many refreshing and modern-day thoughts and situations, and we wish this show could have continued longer. The show’s early closure remains one of the most heart-breaking closures ever.
