It’s Valentine’s Day! And like every year, the world celebrates with expressing their love for their loved ones on this day. The day is also associated with romance, and Indian television is known for setting romantic and couple goals! Let’s look back at some onscreen couples who celebrated love everyday and made us believe in love!
Zain & Aaliyah – Beintehaa
The series, which saw the debut of Preetika Rao and Harshad Rao, aired on Colors more than ten years ago, but the onscreen couple of Aaliyah and Zain, are still admired by fans. The two played cousins who were no less than rivals, but after their marriage, they slowly fell in love and got through a lot together. Zain and Aaliyah’s love was truly ‘beintehaa’!
Abhi & Pragya – Kumkum Bhagya
One of the most successful shows on television, Kumkum Bhagya, began with the story of rockstar Abhishek, played by Shabir Ahluwalia and teacher Pragya, played by Sriti Jha. The two could not bear the sight of each other, but a big twist in fate saw the two getting married and falling in love. The chemistry of #AbhiGya, is still celebrated, and the episodes of Abhi and Pragya are still enjoyed by audiences worldwide.
Neil & Avni – Naamkarann
A delightful love story emerged from Naamkarann when the show took a leap and saw Avni, being played by Aditi Rathore, and Neil, played by Zain Imam. Avni, passionate about helping the needy and orphans like herself, crossed paths with Neil, an ACP. Together they underwent various trials together and always emerged with understanding and loved each other simply for who they are.
Aditya & Zoya – Bepannah
This fan favourite show won hearts in no time as it featured the pairing of Jennifer Winget as Zoya and Harshad Chopda as Aditya. Zoya and Aditya discovered that their spouses were having an extramarital affair with each other after their deaths. A friendship bloomed between the two as they coped with the trauma of what they discovered. This friendship slowly turned into love, and years after the show went off-air, #AdiYa is still one of the most talked about pairings.
Raman & Ishita – Yeh Hai Mohabbatein
One of the most iconic and memorable shows, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, featured the incredible and unforgettable pair of Divyanka Tripathi as Dr Ishita and Karan Patel as Raman. The two were married as Raman’s daughter Ruhi formed a precious bond with Ishita, and Raman-Ishita’s marriage would secure her custody. This fresh and progressive story was enhanced by one of the finest chemistries ever witnessed on screen by Divyanka and Karan. Despite the show going off-air a few years ago, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and #IshRa have left a lasting legacy.
