Arun Mandola on rainfall causing havoc: My family in Delhi and grandmother in Uttarakhand are suffering… I’m feeling helpless

Heavy rainfall has impacted several regions, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, and parts of Karnataka. Roads have been blocked by landslides and flash floods, causing disruptions and difficulties in transportation and environment. Its hazardous effect is unforgiving towards even Mother Nature. Every such natural calamity makes us realise how much we have been exploiting our natural resources without realising the greater harm it has been causing. Arun Mandola too expresses concern. The actor, known for TV shows such as Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman and Vignaharta Ganesh, talks about what can and should be done to nurture Mother Nature to avoid such disasters. He also opines about where the human race is actually going wrong.

“I am from Uttarakhand and this is an extremely horrible situation all over India, especially, Uttarakhand, Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal, Eastern Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab , Chandigarh. Even my family in Delhi was surprised to face such an extremely horrible situation as water is increasing day by day. Transportation is badly interrupted but the worst situation is in the hills. Continuous landslides are happening in Himachal and Uttarakhand. My grandmother stays in Uttarakhand and it is difficult for them. She told me about landslides. Just imagine a big part of the hills will slide in front of you and you cannot do anything about it. I am feeling helpless,” he says.

The actor feels that the government should take care when they destroy hills and cut trees to make roads. Engineers should be alert about what they are doing.

“I don’t know much about how to stop landslides, but I am sure there is a way to stop it from happening. I am concerned about my family, tourists and locals. People don’t have proper food or drinking water. This pain is unimaginable and by the grace of God, personally I never faced such issues. Well, I love hill stations but I am scared to go there because every year we hear such news. I have been trying to go to Uttarakhand for many years but my family is not allowing me. I have beautiful memories from my childhood and I remember my father took me to my Uttarakhand village for summer vacation. Trust me Uttarakhand is as beautiful as Switzerland. It’s heaven on earth. Every Indian must visit Uttarakhand. In the last 20 years many people left Uttarakhand to earn a proper livelihood which is possible in bigger cities. But now, after 20 years, our next generation wants to go back to Uttarakhand for pure air and water. We humans are destroying everything slowly. Pollution, global warming, landslides, Covid 19 etc, it’s our fault. We must find out the solution before incidents like Kedarnath repeat itself,” he adds.
