Jasleen Singh is super thrilled to be a part of Channa Mereya!

Jasleen Singh will portray the character of Shampy in Yash Patnaik and Mamta Patnaik’s new show Channa Mereya. The title means ‘my dear one’, so, according to the actor, that was the first thought that came to his mind when heard the title and decided to be a part of it. As the show is on air already, he hopes to become the ‘channa’ of the audiences with his performance.

“I am super thrilled about this lovely show. Shampy is the name of my character. He is Ginni’s (Niyati Fatnani) younger brother. Just like in the show, I haven’t gotten my father’s love even in real life too (pauses). Shampy loves playing on the phone just as I do. He doesn’t like studying just like me and is very naughty but a loving child. And, last but not the least, we both love our families,” he says

The story of the show is unique in its own way, and Jasleen is glad people have reacted positively to the promo.

“The amount of love we are getting is insane. There is a lot of drama, fights, romance, which starts unfolding from episode one. It’s not your regular normal daily soap,” he adds.

Channa Mereya has a big ensemble star cast. And, the actor is all praises for them and the entire Beyond Dreams team for making such an interesting show.

“I feel honoured to be able to work with someone like Puneet Issar ji (Rajwant). I also feel lucky to get the opportunity to work with Karan Wahi (Aditya) bhai. He is making his comeback to TV with this show after a long time. He is very helpful and down to earth. Tanushree Kaushal (Gulraj) ji, who is playing my mother, is exactly like my mother even off the camera, Niyati di is very loving and helpful, Kanwalpreet (Goldie) bhai is like my brother off camera. We, in fact, share the same room on the set. Then there is Aanya Rawal (Dimpy), who has also become a good friend. I am yet to shoot with Shakti Anand sir (Ambar), Sanjana Solanki di (Manleen) , Dhriti Goenka di (Gurleen), Ashish Kaul sir (Anand) and Prerna Verma ma’am (Shailja). I have worked with Vishwapreet Kaur ma’am (Supreet) in the past, and she is a fun co-actor,” he shares.

About his experience of collaborating with the Patnaiks and Beyond Dreams, he adds,

“The experience has been really good. This is my first project with them and I hope to do a lot of work with them in future.”

Unique storylines always attract audiences. Agreeing, he says,

“Ours is exactly going to do that and we are hoping to charm our audience with our fresh, interesting storyline. We have something for all the age groups in our show.”

As a child artist, Jasleen has not been a witness to any drastic changes in the industry.

“Every set is a different experience. But the only thing that has remained the same is the love that I have gotten from all the people and audience over these years,” he adds.

So does he think daily soaps will always have an audience no matter what?

“This question is a little tricky. Your audiences’ point of views has changed a bit post covid, since they have binge watching content online. Nowadays we don’t want to see the same old stories. The viewers are enjoying and accepting new concepts with open arms. If you give good content people will love it,” he ends.
