I wanted to go home and celebrate Diwali with my whole family and friends. But due to my shoot, I won’t be able to go. I’m celebrating here only in Mumbai with my fiance Ankita and her family. But I am seriously missing home.

I am celebrating at home with my family, along with the new arrivals. My best Diwali memories have to be those that I celebrated during my childhood in Delhi. My friends and I used to come together for a complete dhamaal. To me, as it’s a festival of lights, it signifies positivity, prosperity and winning over negative thoughts.

I stay with my family and we always have a small puja at home on Laxmi puja day. Also, my mom prepares lots of sweets like chakli, ladoos, chivda and much more. So we savour them. We also draw rangolis outside our doors and light diyas. And then on next day, we have a family get-together to celebrate and exchange gifts and pleasantries.

Usually, I celebrate Diwali with my family in Delhi but this time I am celebrating in Mumbai because I am shooting a hectic Laxmi sequence for Mahakaali. I’m exploring Laxmiji’s journey. I believe this is the most prosperous Hindu festival.

With the blessing of goddess Mahalaxmi, I have moved into a new space and it’s my first Diwali at my new home. It’s special for me. I’m doing Laxmi Puja as well as Satyanarayan Puja. This Diwali, I am lightening up the faces of my family members, friends and staff and have bought small gifts for each one of them. Also, I support a pollution free, noise free Diwali.

This festival of the lights is celebrated throughout the country with such enthusiasm. I love the way the whole city dazzles. This year, I am hosting a cards party at my residence with all my friends and family. I am sure we will have a blast. I urge everyone to avoid firecrackers and be sensitive to animals on the street.

Diwali comes with so much festivity and celebration. Our expectations and happiness level automatically rises for a few days. Right from cleaning the house, decorating them, wearing new clothes to gifts, sweets and celebrations are all a part of it. Since years, Indians have been celebrating this festival with a lot of enthusiasm and love. Other than being a colourful festival, Diwali is a delight that brings people closer, be it family, friends or relatives. This time, I am back in my hometown to celebrate this beautiful occasion with my mother because without her blessing and wishes, no occasion is complete. Moreover, the value of tradition and rituals goes higher when we get the blessings of our elders.

As everyone knows, Diwali is celebrated to mark the triumph of good over evil. The topmost reason for me to love this festival is that this is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and Newar Buddhists together. The festival symbolises the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, hope over despair. It teaches us all good things and makes everyone forget about all the bad things and to let go of grudges. This year, I was planning to celebrate Diwali with my family in Chandigarh but due to work commitments, I won’t be able to go. I’ve shoots going on and I am really happy that I’ll be celebrating the festival of lights with the people who’re lightening up my world. The set of my show is my second home and I’m very excited to be celebrating with them. I know that this Diwali will be memorable for me.
