Sandeepa Dhar believes that education has played a significant role in shaping the person she is today. Reflecting on her journey, the actress credited her parents, teachers and educational institutions for influencing her personality, perspective and approach to life.

She also opened up about the overwhelming response to her comedy series ‘Chumbak’ and how she was initially surprised when directors Aatish Kapadia and JD trusted her with a comic role.
Speaking about the role of education in her life, Sandeepa shared, “I think a lot of who I am today is thanks to education. My parents always made sure I received a good education. Even when I wanted to become an actor, they told me to complete my master’s degree first and then pursue whatever I wanted to do. I think that’s a very typical parental response!”
The actress further acknowledged the contribution of her teachers and academic institutions in shaping her thought process and personality. Reflecting on her time at St. Xavier’s and Jamnalal Bajaj, she spoke about the privilege of learning from talented professors and being surrounded by educated minds, adding that these experiences had a lasting influence on who she is today.
Meanwhile, Sandeepa is enjoying the love coming her way for ‘Chumbak’, in which she plays Kiran Kejriwal. Known for taking on emotionally intense roles in the past, the actress admitted that the audience’s response to her comic performance came as a pleasant surprise.
“I’ve done emotionally intense roles in the past, and people have given so much love to Chumbak and my character, Kiran Kejriwal. I don’t know whether the surname had something to do with it, or whether it was the character itself! It’s always wonderful when something you’ve put so much effort into works out,” she said.
Sandeepa revealed that she had initially questioned the decision to cast her in a comedy, as she had never explored the genre before.
However, Aatish Kapadia and JD saw potential in her and trusted her to bring Kiran to life. Grateful for their faith and the audience’s acceptance, she expressed happiness at seeing the memes and conversations around the show across the internet.
For Sandeepa, the response to ‘Chumbak’ has been particularly rewarding, reaffirming the joy of stepping outside her comfort zone and discovering a new side of herself as a performer.
