Vishal Sudarshanwar: I found myself captivated by the art of storytelling

Actor-writer Vishal Sudarshanwar, who was recently seen in Yodha, discovered his passion for films during his time in Pune. He transitioned from a background in sports to the world of cinema, as he was enthralled by the moving pictures.

“It was in Pune that I delved into the intricacies of method acting and filmmaking, opening my eyes to the diverse spectrum of world cinema. As I immersed myself in films from various cultures and genres, I found myself captivated by the art of storytelling and the profound impact of visual storytelling on emotions and perceptions. My journey into the realm of cinema ignited a deep-seated passion within me, one that continues to evolve and thrive with each cinematic experience,” he said.

“Today, I draw inspiration from a wide array of cinematic masterpieces, ranging from Indian classics to Eastern European, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Iranian, Scandinavian, South American, and South Asian films, each offering its own unique brand of magic,” he added.

Movies and timeless classics such as the Godfather trilogy, the Apu Trilogy, Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Run Lola Run, Amelie, Bicycle Thief, Life is Beautiful, Malena, Psycho, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Pianist, City of God, Thelma & Louise, Jagate Raho, Satya, and Rashomon, left an everlasting impression on him.

He said,

“Each of these cinematic masterpieces left an indelible mark on me, igniting a passion and curiosity for storytelling and visual expression. Each of these films captivated me with their poignant themes, compelling characters, and thought-provoking storytelling. They challenged me to contemplate deeper truths about life, humanity, and society, prompting introspection and self-discovery. By immersing myself in these cinematic journeys, I gained a greater sense of empathy, compassion, and understanding, shaping my worldview and inspiring me to strive for positive change both within myself and in the world around me.”

“From there, my fascination with cinema only grew, leading me to explore the works of renowned directors from around the globe. Whether it’s the iconic films of Indian cinema, spanning from Raj Kapoor to Ram Gopal Verma, or the groundbreaking works of international auteurs, each movie serves as a source of inspiration and admiration for the boundless creativity and innovation found in the world of filmmaking,” he concluded.
